Well it finally happened, the shit hit the fan in Texas this past week when the state tried to pass one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in this great land. Well, what transpired made me have hope that the lone star state isn't entirely doomed and filled with those who are overly compensating. Wendy Davis, a democrat senator from the Fort Worth area showed she has some pretty big ovaries when she took on those who want to dictate how women care for themselves and by her side, hundreds of Texans who support her filled the capitol. Davis stood on her feet, without food, water, a bathroom break, as well as not being allowed to sit OR lean on her desk and filibustered. She did what was right, standing up to those (mostly men) who think they know what's best women. Opponents tried several times to try and stop it, they even tried to force a vote AFTER midnight AND changed the date so their precious bill could get through, but the bill died...or so we thought. Mr. Dipshit himself, Governor Rick Perry, has called for a special session to try and pass the bill, hopefully the democrats and citizens of Texas can mobilize again and stop it. Now here's my comments on this subject- I AM SICK AND TIRED of the constant attacks being made towards women, women's rights and women's health issues. Enough is enough. Instead of moving forward on women's issues we've taken several steps back. Vaginal probes for no reason, debate on birth control, shaming rape victims, and just flat out making comments that are way way off the grid and show how stupid those holding government offices really are. I couldn't of guessed that in 2013 women would still be treated like second class citizens. Restricting how women take care of their bodies is shameful and the lies being told to combat abortion are as well. Abortion isn't an easy decision and a woman cannot simply walk into a clinic and demand one, there's certain steps that have to be made before hand and not all abortions are voluntary. Rape/incest victims should not be forced to carry their attackers child and contrary to popular belief those of us who support a woman's right to choose don't chastise women who choose to carry to term if they were raped, again it's her decision. I have been meaning to hit up my local Planned Parenthood to ask those who stand out in front with their signs about ectopic pregnancies. Should the woman be forced to carry until her fallopian tube bursts and she bleeds internally to death? Why do a group of cells out weigh that of the woman? What if the woman is diagnosed with cancer? Should she forgo treatment? What if a woman is raped by a boyfriend/husband and is abused? Should she be forced to bring a child into that world? If she isn't financially secure are YOU going to pay for that child's healthcare? What if the woman is bi-polar, or has some other form of mental illness, should she be forced to raise a child in an unstable environment? All of those questions and more seem to escape the minds of those who linger outside women's health clinics. With late-term abortions it where the fun really begins, and like I stated above you cannot just walk into a clinic and demand and abortion, especially a late-term one. There has to be substantial complications to warrant a late-term abortion. These people lack proper education and cloud themselves with bullshit statistics. Instead of handing out pamphlets that talk about how abortions increase the risk of breast cancer and suicide and how a majority of women regret their abortions maybe they should focus their time in making sure young women AND men know how to use contraception properly and not back abstinence only education. Maybe they shouldn't elect those who railroad every piece of legislation that makes it easier for low-income families to afford adequate birth control, victim shame, and refuse to look into the science of things. Rick Perry and the other doofuses that are trying to cram these pieces of legislation through, and not just in Texas, claim to be pro-women, pro-family, and lastly pro-life yet, this week Perry proudly signed off on the states 500th execution. What is even more disturbing is when women lawmakers come out and say things that are untrue and harm women's right to reproductive health. Jodie Laubenberg, a representative from Texas and sponsor of the draconian bill stood up at a podium and claimed that rape kits "can clean out" a woman. What?! Why are these people allowed to make laws? Now I can go on and on and on and on and on about all the fucked up things republicans have said about women and women's health issues but I'm not. Woman have had to battle constantly for their reproductive rights and our reproductive rights are almost always on the chopping block. Instead of attacking each other we need to get together and stop this madness, and that we're fully capable of making decisions by ourselves and don't need a bunch of old men dictating how we should treat our bodies.

Now onto story number dos!

On Wednesday June 26th the Supreme Court struck down two pieces of legislation, DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) and Prop. 8 (which made same-sex marriage in CA illegal). Personally I am more than happy to know that they did the right thing ruling them unconstitutional because well, they are. But now the fun really begins since all those who oppose same-sex marriage (and for that matter gay rights) are throwing tantrums like the ones my little brother and sister used to pull when they didn't get their way. Opponents have called it a "tragedy", "miscarriage of justice" that the SCOTUS is "abandoning their duty" and have also stated that Jesus would cry and that the founding fathers are turning over in their graves. Threats have also been made towards the justices who voted in favor of abolishing the measures by so called Christians.

My personal standing is this, I don't think same-sex marriage should even be an issue, marriage between two men or two women should've been an automatic thing, plain and simple, because well...that's what equality is all about. But, why has the push for equality been such an uphill battle? One word...religion. The problem isn't with religion per-say the problem is that religious institutions want to play politics and dictate what rights people have based on a book. Another problem is that those who oppose such things like gay rights are constantly bitching about being called bigots and judgmental when they claim not to be. They feel it's ok to chastise whomever they want but once someone points out their intolerance and hypocrisy they're up in arms because they're being attacked for their beliefs....no. You're not being "attacked" for your beliefs, you're being shown you have no basis whatsoever to not support equal rights for others AND you're being a complete dick about it. Plus opponents have other reasons for not supporting equal rights- that it will lead to more child molestation, destroy 'traditional' marriage, with bestiality and polygamy being next up for the SCOTUS to rule on. Sorry kids but that's not so, first off there's a difference between being gay and being a pedophile (hell, there's even a difference between those who molest and pedophiles) see pedophiles don't target a specific gender, they're sexually attracted to pre-pubescent children and it's about sex. This whole notion that gay men, in particular, are sexual deviants looking for little kids to sexually assault is wrong and a scare tactic. Now onto the argument about how soon bestiality and polygamy is next on the plate. Let me put it to you this way- Fucking an animal like, lets say a goat, or sheep (the original stand by) or a pig (oink!) is COMPLETELY different that two men or two women having sex and that is FOR SURE and even though in essence we humans are in fact animals ourselves, it's still pretty messed up to assume gays would screw anything they could, and it has ALWAYS been easier to screw an animal than for two committed adults, that have been together for years and love each other very much and who also happen to be the same sex, to get married and that's a crying ass shame, and disturbing. With polygamy...IT WILL NEVER BE decided by the supreme court, because like most Americans and well the world, it's frowned upon and not to get all conservative but when a man is a polygamist he's only legally married to one woman while the sister wives live off welfare (where's the outrage in that? Oh that's right they're straight so it's ok). So I just destroyed those arguments against same-sex marriage pretty well and if you think I'm wrong well, you're intolerant and misinformed and need to get with the times.

My hopes for 2014 is that people vote for what's right and get rid of the disease that plagues our states. We cannot afford to have those who block important bills/legislation for their own personal gain, nor can we afford those who are bigots or misogynists to run the government, it only makes us weaker.

Firstly I don't think Snowden's intentions were entirely pure. As I was reading my Twitter feed I noticed someone called him a "grandiose narcissist", which makes a whole lot of sense. The answers he gave about why he did it and what he hoped would happen as a result irked me. He came off arrogant, naive, and even a little callous as if he did this for selfish reasons to get back at someone, not to protect American population from 'big brother'.

Secondly, what do you people expect? This IS the patriot act, SPYING is one of the main tenants of this garbage disguised as something that's supposed to protect us. Surveillance operations were made public many years ago. Where was all the outrage when it was being shoved through congress? We were given these horrible scenarios of what would happen if it wasn't passed and we also got that sorry excuse for a warning system called The 'Homeland Security Advisory System'. Where was the outrage when Facebook started to sell information? Government surveillance is old news. For 8 years we were fed fear and this is the result. This is what happens when you live an apathetic lifestyle and fall asleep at the wheel.

And lastly, I am NOT by ANY means condoning what the NSA did or does and it's a little scary but we happen to live in an age where the vast majority of the world is connected by the internet, which is a huge threat to not just our national security but our allies and frenemies. It's kinda like when that crackpot named Terry Jones down in Florida wanted to burn the Qur'an- if he would've went through with it, it would've put those in our military in danger but the guy didn't care because he wanted to do it for his own selfish reasons, just like Snowden or the soldiers who decided to piss on dead bodies of enemy combatants- not thinking clearly about the consequences it has on others. I'm not saying we should lay down and let the government strip us of our civil liberties and maybe I'm backing off my deeply rooted socialist ties but some things are meant to be classified, yeah we have a right to know whether of not our phone records and internet searches are being seen and I think most people have nothing to hide but like I stated earlier, it's a different time and age, where a lot of chatter happens on the internet and that's where we find a lot of information on those hell bent on affecting our way of life. Also, I'm not 'one of those people' who thinks the government is going to turn tyrannical or 'we have to do what we have to do for the protection of this country' or whatever but maybe this will teach some to pay attention to what's happening and if you really don't want the government seeing what you do then don't go on Twitter, Facebook, or any other social networking site.

This may seem a little off subject from what I've tackled in the past but I have to address this because those who are speaking out against it are fucking goons.

The problem....

Jay-Z and Beyonce went to Cuba. I know, the fucking humanity right?!

This whole situation has apparently put a very bad taste is the mouths of American government officials, something about an embargo and how Fidel Castro is a horrible horrible dictator and they can't be trusted, Marco Rubio (Senator from Florida, born to Cuban parents) even said that Jay-Z needs to "inform himself" about his Cuban buddies since Jay-Z is an apparent fan of Che Guevara. Even though Obama has opened up some travel restrictions for those from Cuba and those who have family living in Cuba, travel for us "normal" Americans to the island is still a no-go because of the Embargo against them that started MORE THAN 50 YEARS AGO!

I know why there was an embargo in the first place (I'm not an idiot) my parents grew up during that time, I know there's human rights violations, I've heard the stories and I don't think a lot of adults in my age group and younger really grasp just HOW close the world was to nuclear war, but....the United States needs let it ride. It's been long enough. Who is the embargo really hurting? Castro? No. It's hurting the people of that country - which is screwed, it's not their fault.

But wait a tick...the sole purpose of the embargo was to make the Cuban government treat their people better and stop corruption because as American's we're freedom lovers and want everyone else to have to same freedoms we have... right? Well then, what the FUCK are we doing supporting and sending money to countries that have FAR WORSE human rights problems than Cuba?

China basically owns us, we get a lot of goods from them and they're also notorious for human rights violations - censorship, religious persecution...pollution (they know how bad their air is) to name a few.

In Egypt we supported Hosni Mubarak (A DICTATOR), Saudia Arabia where women aren't allowed to drive, Iraq but, they have oil so it's ok.

Then there's Afghanistan, Jamaica, various African countries and if anyone knows how to abuse human rights it's Africa

And you know what? Even WE have human rights abuses.

So all this hoopla about two American celebrities going to Cuba for a cultural excursion is ridiculous and those who oppose them going there and support the embargo need to take a good long look in the mirror. The United States needs to get their shit together on who they support and for what reasons

Look, I'm not condoning how the people of Cuba are treated, and we've seen that in a lot of "communist" countries (in parentheses because communism doesn't work, if it was socialism MAYBE and yes there IS a difference between the two) but enough is enough, like my Cuban co-worker told me the other day "The American government should allow its people to experience my country. It's a beautiful place with beautiful people. Forget the government it's the people who make the country!"

Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-29676818230433662102013-01-18T22:16:00.000-08:002013-01-18T22:16:50.595-08:00Obama, Guns and Paranoia...OH MY! There's been a couple of...issues that have been really chapping my ass lately (imagine that!). The thing that has been getting my panties in a bunch more than anything is the whole gun debate (or debacle) and how paranoid people are in this country when it comes to their "right to bear arms". BUT there is ONE part of this discussion that REALLY gets my blood boiling and that is when some claim that Hitler was for gun control and that Obama is a tyrant/dictator because he supports REASONABLE gun safety. Along with not being able to read the constitution properly I guess people can't read history books properly because last time I checked Hitler (and many other REAL tyrants/dictators throughout history) WASN'T FOR GUN CONTROL, and if you think Obama is a dictator then you sir need to attend to that paranoia, because that's what all this is- paranoia. NO ONE is talking about TAKING GUNS AWAY. The whole notion that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is also bullshit and a stupid argument. When there is a conflict in the world and the U.S. military mobilizes we don't send only soldiers- we send soldiers WITH guns and artillery (very large and powerful guns). Another thing is, is at this moment in time I don't think ANYONE needs to "protect" themselves from the government. Obama isn't a dictator or tyrant that is going to come knocking on your door so....take some Xanax and relax it's going to be alright. Look, I'm not anti gun I've even fired a gun and a shotgun or two and if the Zombie apocalypse happens shit is going to get real, but it's getting out of control. I see people posting things on Facebook or Twitter about how the government is doing this so only those in power have guns so they can control the rest of us, again I urge you to take some Xanax or Ativan or maybe even a little dope to help you relax because THAT IS FUCKING NUTS, seriously. You have nut jobs like Alex Jones who started a petition to get Piers Morgan deported because Morgan supports banning assault rifles, extensive background checks, and limiting ammunition (along with more than 50% of this country). Jones then proceeded to scream about how "1776 will commence again" if President Blackenstein takes away the right to bear arms (which he never said he was going to do), then there were those who said that the executive orders were going to cause a civil war case in point James Yeager, a tactical weapons trainer from Tennessee, did what most irrational nuts do- he posted a video on YouTube about how he would be more than happy to fire the first shots of said war and he is "not letting his country be ruled by a dictator, I'm not letting anybody take my guns. If it goes one inch further I'm gonna start killing people", easy there cowboy, them is fightin' words and I'm sure he got a visit from the FBI but hopefully not while in the middle of masturbating into his many guns (Mr. Yeager has since had his gun permit yanked). Then you have king of right wing gun whores the Motor City Madman, The Nuge, and whatever-other-stupid-name-people-call-him, Ted Nugent. I have to be honest I'm surprised this guy hasn't imploded or thrown a clot, like the two men I mentioned before him he spews bullshit he magically conjures up.

The truth is this, people refuse to believe the truth and want to get others riled up so they can all live in this fantasy about how the government is trying to take away our right to protect friends and family or they're going to stop you from saying what you want and that this is AMERICA fuck yeah!!! WE HAVE RIGHTS HERE! Not like those goofy countries where Obama is from! (sarcasm). I could go into what the NRAs position is but frankly I think I've mentioned enough completely paranoid dimwitted nobodies. The fact is, is that the United States has a militia, well a couple of them, called the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy, National Guard, Coast Guard and local police forces and if you need a firearm so bad, go to a recruitment center. You may agree with their roles in society or not but that's the truth. Another truth is that we don't NEED to have guns, the British aren't coming (Maybe they should, at least we would get healthcare) neither is Al Qaeda. The 2nd Amendment is outdated and only gives more power to gun nuts. Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-40570105759622146662012-12-17T20:58:00.002-08:002012-12-17T20:59:32.386-08:00When I first heard about the shooting in Connecticut I immediately thought about my 11 year old brother and 6 year old sister and how I would feel if it happened at their school, and its not a comfortable feeling to say the least. The president (and the country) has rallied around those in Newtown and has tried to make the sting of what happen a little better. Last night Obama did his job and offered some solace to the families and friends of those lost. It's a human reaction to feel compassion and to try and put yourself in the shoes of the people who DID lose someone in such a traumatic way but...what isn't a human reaction is to say that this happened because "God isn't allowed in schools" or take to social media and call the president a nigger because your precious football game was interrupted for an hour while he spoke to not just a shell shocked community in New England but a country. Reason I bring this up is because I had a discussion with my boss today who was irate (yes...irate) because the Sunday game between the 49ers and New England Patriots was interrupted while Obama spoke to us. I also saw the disgusting and inhuman remarks people were making on Twitter:

"Take that nigger off the tv, we wanna watch football"

"Obama can eat shit, trying to make a speech during the football game. Unacceptable"

"You have got the be fucking kidding me Obama, you stupid mother fucker. It's a football time in America not you to give a speech you fuck!"

"This nigger interrupted football game."

"Obama get the fuck off the screen while I'm trying to watch the pats."

Those are some of the posts off Twitter, I emphasize SOME, all the entries pissed me off but what really got me started was when my boss opened his fat mouth and bitched about the game being interrupted, this is what I have to say to all these jerk-offs....

Shut up...please. Parents lost a child, children lost a parent, others lost an aunt, sister, nephew, niece...friend. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Put yourself in their shoes- what if it was YOUR kid, aunt, niece, nephew, sister or friend I HIGHLY doubt you would think the same way if some moron typed/said the things you did Sunday. Calling the president a racial slur because A FUCKING FOOTBALL GAME was interrupted is inexcusable. Why don't you go to the Twitter and Facebook pages of the parents and tell them how upset your are that your precious GAME was interrupted you fucking selfish insensitive self-righteous shit stains. You missed a football game...BIG FUCKING DEAL...they had a loved one ripped away from them. What does it say about a society that says the things you said? And for those of you (like my boss) who consider yourself a Christian- what kind of Christian says stuff like that and is more concerned about a GAME than people who are in pain and needed last night?? Get a grip on reality and grow the fuck up. Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-24774011603047821282012-11-08T20:46:00.000-08:002012-11-08T20:58:49.804-08:00Commence Implosion! OHHHHH MAN!

What an election! Not only did Obama win more than 100+ electoral votes than Romney he ALSO won the popular vote (albeit it was close) but he got it. But what made the whole night or "was the icing on the cake with a cherry" was the complete SHOCK of those who supported Romney- most notably everyone on Fox News. When Ohio was given to Obama you couldn't get a strong enough shovel to get their jaws off the ground...and that's putting it mildly. Karl Rove (who got a Ph.D in crookery) completely freaked out and tried to persuade Fox to not give the votes to Obama, then tried to persuade the Romney campaign from conceding. There's also reports that Romney had a plane waiting for him at Logan that would take him to Ohio. Then there were the images and video from Romney HQ in Boston. A sea of white people crumbled to the floor, plowed their faces into open hands, scowled like Scrooge, crossed their arms like 5-year-olds do when they don't get their way, and most importantly the utter disbelief, shock and horror on their faces. I have to admit that all that is the second best thing about this election. ALL the money that was given to Romney by all those scumbags means NOTHING. People like Donald Trump, Victoria Jackson, and Ted Nugent immediately took to Twitter and like Rove came close to speaking in tongues and shitting themselves (this would be the second time for Nugent because he did that to get out of the draft during Vietnam...some American). Aside from Romney not getting elected it was also a bad night for the tea party who lost several seats, as well as Todd Aiken and the other "rape guy" not getting elected although, Bachmann aka "the mom from Carrie" (as Bill Maher put it) did get re-elected- BARELY.

All in all it was a great night for not just liberals but the country. There's one last thing I have to do...and open letter to the GOP and everyone who lost their minds on Tuesday.

Dear, GOP:

I'm not sorry you lost Tuesday in fact, I'm elated that you lost. You have only yourselves to blame and that goes for all of you, you lost due to your lack of smarts / lack of balls.

For those of you who are moderate and have half a brain, Where...the fuck have you been?! This is what happens when you let irrational and immoral people take over your party. You've let tea baggers, racists, sexists, homophobes, Islamophobes, and just plain crazies take over your party. Four years ago when Mitch McConnell said that the ultimate job of the GOP was to deny Obama a second term you lost all of my respect and I know I'm not the only one. Your party REFUSED to work with Obama and the democrats because you wanted them to fail and in 2010 it almost happened when you ran a smear campaign against them. You also have no respect whatsoever for Obama. He TRIED to play nice in the sandbox with you but nope, couldn't do it. For the past 4 years you have become obstructionist assholes. There has NEVER been this much absolute disrespect for a president, and saying that "we" did the same thing to Bush...that's bullshit and you know it. Bush invaded TWO countries and cost this country trillions of dollars due to horrible policies not to mention his sorry excuse for a cabinet who, as far as I'm concerned, was full of war criminals. You think the American people are stupid and wouldn't pay attention and hopefully share your warped views on democracy.

You attacked, insulted and excluded women from all around by trying to control how we take care of OUR bodies and had members try and pass bills that would redefine rape so it would be harder to obtain an abortion, tried to deny us access to birth control, and basic reproductive health care. YOU didn't stand up for us when people like Rush Limbaugh were calling us sluts YOUR presidential nominee (in response to Limbaugh's tirade) said "Not the words I would've chosen", as well as him picking a running mate that wants to outlaw various forms of birth control and IVF as well as being against abortion even in cases of rape and incest.

When people claimed Obama was a "communist", "socialist", "fascist", "reverse racist", said he's not a real American you did NOTHING. When lame excuse for a decent human, Donald Trump, made wild accusations and tried to EXTORT Obama you again did NOTHING.

You attack the LGBT community and act like they're deviants and not even second class citizens, you treat them worse that cows on a feed lot, you want a "smaller government" but want to make laws that control how people live their lives. You're intolerant and have excluded everyone from your base except rich white (mostly) men. You've offended pretty much every single demographic (thinking Cubans are the same as Mexicans for one).

You have the chance now to try and put all these and other blunders behind you. YOU have the chance to make this country better, YOU have to make it work. The government shouldn't only serve a select few but everyone- from all walks of life. On Tuesday the country spoke (again) letting you know that we didn't take your bait. You can freak out and talk about how the country can't "afford" four more years and blah blah blah but the democrats didn't cause this problem. They didn't cause the economy to crash, they didn't attack women, they didn't attack the LGBT community, they didn't call the president a liar during a speech, YOU DID. Take a hint, humble yourselves and learn from this.

There. I'm done.

But the mud that's being slung at women for the past couple of months is some of the most vile and disgusting around. These attacks are coming from only ONE political party- the GOP. Republicans like Todd Aiken, Darrell Issa, Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, Rush Limbaugh, Richard Mourdock (just to name a few) have all played their part in the relentless attacks against women. Here's what each of these MEN have contributed to their anti-woman cause....

*Todd Aiken
"Well you know, people always want to try to make that as one of those things, well how do you, how do you slice this particularly tough sort of ethical question. First of all, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really rare. If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something. I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child."
Aiken then stated his words were "taken out of context". Whatever you say but...that's not how the female reproductive system works, if a sperm fertilizes an egg the woman will most likely become pregnant REGARDLESS if she's raped or not.

*Darrell Issa
Issa held a congressional hearing on birth control (regarding the Obama administration making birth control accessible/free for students attending religious affiliated universities) but was missing one thing....he didn't allow any women to talk, only men. A young law student by the name of Sandra Fluke wasn't able to testify because Issa said she was "not qualified for appropriate"....and all the men you're talking to are?!

*Rick Santorum
Does not believe that "right to privacy" isn't part of the Constitution, he's critical of Griswold v. Connecticut, he also said that contraception is "a license to do things in a sexual realm this is counter to how things are supposed to be." He thinks birth control is harmful to women and harmful to our society, believes sex is only for procreation. He also thinks sexual freedom has led to "the debasement of women, mental illness, and an epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases, causing infertility, cancer and even death." He thinks that the women's rights movement has damaged "traditional family values", doesn't support having women on the front lines during war....

*Mitt Romney
Romney is a weird case...first he says he's for women's rights then he backtracks THEN he picks a running mate who is trying to get legislation passed that would re-define the definition of rape. My personal opinion is that this guy has a hard time relating to anyone who isn't a rich white man. Apparently those "binders full of women" didn't help.

*Paul Ryan
Mitt Romney's running mate- He has co-sponsored 38...yes 38 measures in congress that would restrict abortion no matter if the woman was raped, incest or endangers the mothers life. He voted against the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Act, thinks fertilized eggs should be considered people, opposes selling emergency contraception over-the-counter, wants to cut federal funding for Planned Parenthood, and like I stated earlier wants to change the definition of rape...because apparently there's differences between "forcible rape" and "legitimate rape".

*Rush Limbaugh
I don't think I need to remind anyone on how much of a worthless-useless-racist-sexist pile of human waste this guy is. But in short he has NO IDEA how birth control works and I'm pretty sure most of these guys don't.

*Richard Mourdock
The newest member of Club Scumbag! He recently said this about women who become pregnant after being raped-
"I know there are some who disagree and I respect their point of view but I believe that life begins at conception. The only exception I have to have an abortion is in that case of the life of the mother. I just struggled with it myself for a long time but I came to realize: "Life is that gift from God that I think even if life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen."
And like Todd Aiken he offered an excuse about how the words he spewed without thinking were twisted around.

I along with every self respecting woman (and not just American women) find these attacks offensive, disgusting, sickening, untrue and most of all...scary since it's usually men who decide what a woman can and can't do with her body. It's also evident that we still live in a male dominated society and the clues are everywhere. They also never have to worry about having their reproductive rights taken away nor are they CONSTANTLY under attack.

Of course there have been even more outrageous things said like "If I thought that a mans signature was required...required in order for a woman to have an abortion, I'd have a little bit more peace of mind." and there was that bullshit law about how if a woman needed an abortion she would be required to be probed against her will, THEN there are laws where rapists can get shared custody of children of the woman he raped (double whammy!).

In closing I would like to say this:

I may not always necessarily like having a Uterus or what comes along with it but the simple fact is, is that it's MINE. If I choose to get it removed, keep it in a jar of formaldehyde and carry it around with me or use it as a coin purse I HAVE THAT RIGHT. It's not yours to decide what I do with it and I'm sure as shit not going to let one, much less a man, tell me "No you can't have birth control or an abortion."

I know the men in the GOP have this thing about how women have a hard time making decisions because they're too "emotional" and NEED men to help them sort things out because we're "the weaker sex" but enough is enough and the damage has been done and I think women are going to remember this and playing nice in the sandbox is out of the question.

Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-949463971862625962011-05-03T12:10:00.000-07:002011-05-03T21:05:40.472-07:00Just....stop.I've decided that I have to do this...I may hurt feelings of some but it has to be said.

Some of you know this some of you don't but I -like many others unfortunately- have been a victim of dating/domestic violence from the ages of 15-17. It was never physically abusive but if I had stayed in the relationship it would've become physical. For me the abuse I suffered was verbal, emotional/mental, I was with someone who was completely different when we first started dating - nice, caring, a little wacky but someone who I enjoyed spending my time with.

After the first year of being together however...things started to change. He CHOSE to become homeless and CHOSE to become involved in drugs. I also noticed that he had underlying mental disorders, well I kinda knew about them beforehand but, they were deeper than I suspected. I had wanted to break up with him for quite sometime but was afraid to do so- first off because of what he could do to me, friends would choose sides (which they did) and what I was most afraid of was what he would do to himself. I finally broke up with him shortly before my senior year of high school and it took its toll on me because I had lost people who I THOUGHT were my friends and lost contact with those who really were my friends because of him and because I decided to stay with him. The year after breaking up was the toughest, I became reclusive, gained a large amount of weight and became depressed. Lately I've been looking back - not dwelling- because a few of my friends now are involved in the same kind of relationship I had. I know what its like to have someone try to control you and hold stuff over your head and make things that aren't your fault SEEM like your fault because they can't look in the mirror themselves and don't want to deal with their own issues and want to play the victim. At the age we are now (most of us are in are mid to late twenties) we shouldn't have to deal with this and it needs to stop. If you feel trapped in a relationship GET OUT NOW, if its abusive- either it be verbally, physically, emotionally and even sexually GET OUT NOW! You have a support system that will help you get through the tough parts. NO ONE deserves to be treated like that. If you feel trapped and don't know how to end it TALK TO US! That's what friends are for after all!

I hope all of you who see this are appreciative and not defensive.
Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-37146680615379519992011-03-23T15:55:00.000-07:002011-04-07T22:37:12.795-07:00Must love books.Recently at work an old co-worker came in and we shot the shit for awhile and she told me how funny I was and how I need to make a "manual'' on what I look for and how a potential mate should deal with me...So I've decided to do it.

Name: Winter Lee H. Scriven

Female, 27 years old, blue eyes, dark brown hair, 5'6 - who cares about weight. And I'm white.

Hobbies: Reading, writing, going to museums, arts and craft type things, buying things that I don't need but buy them because they have an owl on them, blogging, I like fotbal (soccer for you Americant's).

What I look for in a mate: A guy (Yes, I'm straight - contrary to popular belief- Sorry ladies) who can carry on a conversation, Has to be taller than me, Has to be around my age or older, Liberal (socially anyway...) Someone who likes having A LOT of books about history/the Holocaust around. I also generally date whitey. Someone who is abusive in ANY way.

What I DON'T look for in a mate: Arrogance, intolerance, bigotry, complete druggie (if you smoke weed and drink but not full blown alcoholic that's cool), Just don't be a tool.

Some of MY faults: Can be selfish at times, loud, straight forward- don't sugar coat a lot of things, VERY outspoken (sometimes I don't care who I offend), bad temper, Space cadet, I like my alone time so someone who is clingy would really get on my nerves.

What I expect out of a relationship: Look, I'm 27...I'm not looking for someone who is just looking for a 'fling'- its going to be a long term thing. I'm not into 'open' relationships if you're with me- be with me- not into threesomes nor am I polyamorous. I'm an introvert at heart so I do like to have 'me' time every once in awhile- nothing against you just how I am. You'll also have to put up with my craziness. As for potential marriage goes- I am not going to get married until everyone is able to get married, why should I be able to marry only because I'm straight?? And don't ask me to marry you right off the bat- it takes about a year and a half to get used to someone.

That's all I can think of...

Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-31707621824119907062011-03-05T20:30:00.000-08:002011-03-08T18:47:48.730-08:00Short ChangingI recently saw the documentary "Waiting for Superman"- for a second time- and it really pissed me off and saddened me. It also made me think about my time in grammar, junior high and high school and how I (and other children) were and ARE being shortchanged regarding education. For the most part I had good teachers throughout grammar school, My 4th/6th grade teacher (had the same guy for those two grades) specifically was extremely dedicated to his students. I also really liked my 3rd grade teacher but...this is me we're talking about so of course there's a few who I had/have problems with well, scratch that- had problems with the school.
Here's the story- in third grade I started to have problems with math, the teacher was spending too much time explaining stuff to me so there was a parent teacher conference and you know what happened in that conference? The school wasn't too concerned with my difficulties in math...they were more concerned with the fact that I had picked up my moms New Jersey accent (said 'warsh" instead of "wash" stuff like that). After which I was put into a speech class- nothing to help me with math. This set in motion a long time of being screwed over by the education system of this country. I was also put into what they called 'resource' classes in which I was with kids who were in the same grade as me yet...they could barely read. I had NO problem reading or with comprehension but the 'higher ups' at school were convinced I had problems with other things (which, like I stated before I DIDN'T). I'm not knocking kids who had difficulty reading but I DIDN'T BELONG THERE. During this time I was also in a small group of kids whose parents were divorced or separated and we had to hold a wand and "talk about our feelings" - I would of much rather had help with my academics...personally. Of course my parents fought with them (my mom did mostly) I think being in those classes did more harm then good. I felt like I was a less productive student- and I think the school wanted it that way. Also most of the staff couldn't pronounce my first OR last name -either called me 'Winter" or something else stupid like that.

Moving on to junior high...I can't tell you how many of my teachers at Laguna Middle School were shitty teachers. They either hated kids, or were just so burnt out that it was useless to them to even try. During the first week of school I was actually pulled from a 'mainstream' english class and put into a 'resource' class in which the teacher (I'm pulling no punches and naming names!) Mr. Kirby treated us like we were 5...no joke. He had us do assignments that were useless and didn't help with anything. The home economics teacher Miss Young...was more concerned with the stupid dress code they had there than treating her students with the slightest bit of respect, it was bull. One day I remember was when I was in class and had to bend over my desk, suddenly I felt something on my back I turn around and its her with a stupid ruler measuring how much of my midriff was showing. I didn't get a tap on the shoulder and told "Excuse me but I noticed you're showing a little bit more skin than you should, be sure to be aware I know it may seem like a silly rule to the students but its our rules." No...I got some high and mighty woman who obviously had control issues TOUCH ME UNWILLINGLY and talk down to me like an idiot. I ended up leaving the 8th grade because I got really depressed and got home schooled.

High School...

High school was probably the biggest crock of bull shit I've ever experienced HOWEVER...I attended two high schools- so my beef is with San Luis High. First off yet again I was put into 'resource' classes. My math teacher was so old she didn't realize she had dog shit on her shoe for three days straight ALSO she was so disliked by students (and probably by faculty) that no one told her about it. She was unclear about her teaching and didn't explain how to do things just expected us to know it. But my main problem was with Mr. Porter. This guy was the shittiest of the shittiest he was head of the special education department there and was the biggest tool. Again I was yanked from 'mainstream' classes BY HIM and put in classes where I was obviously smarter than most of the kids (not trying to rail on anyone but its the truth). He was insanely religious and often brought it into class (he was also part of the Christian group). He was teaching a 'history' class one semester and it was supposed to be about Russia and all this guy did was talk about how horrible Communists/Communism is and showed us slides of a trip he took there in 1986...but that's small in comparison to what happened next...I (a student) had to tell him (the teacher) WHAT COMMUNISM WAS! THEN HE TRIED TO ARGUE WITH ME ABOUT IT...Look sir, Both my parents fancied themselves Communists 'back in the day' AND I READ ABOUT IT A LOT- I also explained to him that what's on paper IS completely different that how it was/is applied in countries (such as Russia). We DIDN'T learn about the Czars, we DIDN'T learn about the people WE DIDN'T LEARN ANYTHING EXCEPT for how horrible it was there under "Communist rule". EVERY SINGLE CHILD who had classes with him WAS SHORT CHANGED in their EDUCATION. After this I was totally fed up with SLO High and then transferred over to Pacific Beach. A better decision couldn't have been made. The four teachers I had there Mr. Kirk, Mrs. Newman, Mrs. Jacobsen and Mr. Pearson EXCEPT THE PRINCIPLE MR. SAN FILLIPO WHO WAS A HUGE JERK AND DIDN'T RESPECT ANY OF THE STUDENTS AND WAS EXTREMELY RUDE TO THEM ANY CHANCE HE GOT!!! (Sorry but that had to be added) were SO dedicated to their students and connected with them, granted there were only about 60 students who attended but they deserve to be applauded for their efforts. But unfortunately I was so burnt out by being screwed by schools that I didn't apply myself the way I should of.

Now that I'm in college bad teachers are few and if there is a bad teacher I can AVOID him or her (most of the time). But I am still concerned about the education in this country, I have two younger siblings and I fear that they'll be short changed as well. First off I don't think elementary/junior high and high school teachers shouldn't be given tenure so quickly. We all know how long it takes professors to become tenured but some lower level teachers get it in as little as two years- and some (not all) get the attitude "Well, I'm tenured so I don't care if you learn anything or not." This is a HUGE problem. Also I have a problem with some teachers unions (yes me...the bleeding heart liberal has a problem with a union). The AFT or American Federation of Teachers is one union I have a problem with. They see a teacher as a teacher -no matter if that teacher is bad OR good. This is a problem...They're also so threatened by change (being able to fire teachers or only tenuring teachers who perform well) that they refuse to have dialog with many school districts. Tenure isn't something to be thrown around- You can rape nuns on the front lawn of your school and not get fired that's how set in stone it is.

I know not all teachers are shitty and I am ONE student who had many problems but I'm not the only one. Many students are being short changed in their educations, EVERY SINGLE CHILD IN THIS COUNTRY and around the world deserves AN EXCELLENT education. The more people who pay attention and get involved in not just yours or your child's or friends or whom ever's education the more this crisis (because it is) can be solved.

Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-84996417593361352552011-02-14T14:32:00.000-08:002011-02-14T16:10:19.146-08:00Marriage, love, relationships and Why I Hate Valentines Day.I was going to make this post about how much I hate Valentines Day but I've decided to make it about all things love wise! Also I AM NOT signaling any one person out- so don't internalize it.

Even though I do in fact hate Valentines Day I have been sucked into it on occasion for instance - I used to buy my little brother and sister baskets filled with all the pink, red and white shit they sell but, I did it mainly because I like to make them happy and enjoy seeing them enjoy it. Anyway most know my stance on marriage - I think everyone should be allowed to get married (human wise that is). Gay marriage isn't going to make the sky fall, and religion needs to keep its nose out of business it has no part in, and for that reason I have myself made the decision not to get married until everyone else can- if that never happens then...whatever I'm not in a hurry. I'm also not one of these people who marks their first week together or second week or blah blah blah....who cares if you've been a couple for 72 hours. I also don't understand why some people get so clingy. As an introvert this really makes me uneasy...space and alone time can be a wonderful thing but if you have someone going "HEY! where you going? What you doing!?! Can I come?!?!" Look, everyone has their own shit to do and you can't be around that person all the time. To me it signals huge trust issues (duuuhh). Also if you're going to fight, fight on your own time. Don't go online and bitch each other out in front of everyone no one cares and no one wants to hear it, it makes you both look like idiots...and attention whores not to mention immature. Lastly, in almost every relationship the thought of children comes up. I have seen so many people throughout my adult life have kids that they don't deserve. Having children is NOT a relationship saver nor are they accessories. If you have a child to save a relationship you're an moron, its going to make things worse - trust me. Plus don't have a kid if you can't afford it...please. Be respectful of each other, don't be a constant victim, take some criticism and just keep calm in dark times no matter how hard it might be...that's my advice for the day.
Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-42002926028790240502011-01-09T22:18:00.000-08:002011-01-09T23:17:01.995-08:00When Shit Comes Home to RoostAs all know a horrible thing happened this past Saturday in Arizona. If you don't I suggest you crawl out from your sewer and turn on the news....with that being said I didn't make a post during or immediately following the incident because I really don't want this to be a slew of words mashed together (which I have a tendency to do) nor did I want it to be like one of my 'normal' rants and I had a lot of things going through my head that needed to be filtered - Who did it, Why did someone do it, HOW did it happen- pretty much everything everyone else was experiencing. As more information has come out people have begun to point fingers at who they think have blood on their hands. A sheriff has come out to say that Arizona has become a hot bed due to the Presidential election of 2008, immigration, gun control, and health reform...but none of these topics warrant the decision that was made by those who committed this act, normal people know this but as we all know over the past 2 years the political climate here has become very volatile.

I am not going to point my finger at any one person who I think might be at fault because lets face it, the only person directly at fault is the shooter and his suspected accomplices. BUT I do think some people who are in the public eye have a hand in fueling the fire that rested in the killers belly and yes I think one of those who did this is none other than Sarah Palin (the others being Glenn Beck, and Michelle Bachmann). For the past 2 years Obama has been in office these three in particular have been the voice for groups like the "tea party" and the "birther movement". Like I keep pointing out I don't want to sit here and play the blame game but its hard when you have people making pictures of districts that need to be "taken back" and the districts are represented by cross hairs...you know the ones you see when looking through an assault rifle, you also have this guy on TV with his chalk board who writes insane things on it (most of the time not making any sense at all) who cries because he "fears for his country". THEN you have this woman who has told her supporters things like "Be armed and dangerous" referring to an Obama administration cap and trade tax policy that limits greenhouse gases. These kinds of actions plant seeds inside people. But when asked about these damaging phrases they back track and hide behind an amendment that they know nothing about "I didn't mean it that way...it was a metaphor" I'm going to be straight forward and be mean by saying that I think the types of people who cling to every word these three (as well as others like them) say are less educated than others...and yes some are flat out bigoted buffoons.
I'm not just pointing the finger at the GOP and tea baggers...the democrats are just as guilty. Instead of trying to out wit these people they have fired back with some of the same rhetoric. BOTH parties should have nipped this bullshit in the bud ASAP. But they didn't...instead they chose to keep turning the dagger and making jabs. Then there's the media who has over sensationalized things over and over and over again most of the time making them seem a lot worse than they are. We need to STOP this. The Republicans need to come out to the public and denounce these people - so do the Democrats. The hippy part of me wants everyone to shut up and listen...and look around. Its true us liberals viciously attacked George Bush over and over again but look at what happened during his presidency - two wars, massive debt, restrictive on social issues (gay rights, stem cell research etc). Obama isn't perfect -far from it- but he is trying to make this country work. He isn't a Muslim (and so what if he was), wasn't born in Kenya, and he isn't a Socialist NOR a Nazi. He is a human being like all of us. Its time we started to act like it. WE need to take a step back and look at ourselves. My mom says that my generation has back tracked on everything her generation did during the 60's and 70's and I'm starting to believe her. The youth of this country has a lot of swing to it IF we get our shit together and WE have to inhabit this world WE have to work and live with all types of people some good, some bad. It doesn't seem like it but I try to show everyone with respect (you should always treat the garbage man the same way you would treat the Queen of England) and I know it gets hard but lets try to change this.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-2706711258508105552011-01-08T00:53:00.000-08:002011-01-08T01:41:02.557-08:00What ever happened to the classy (American) girl?First things first...I haven't been on this thing for quite sometime, like most people I have fallen prey to the sick and twisted world that is Facebook BUT...Facebook has a word limit so I can't go on my usual rants ( I have to make them short rants). ANYWAY...I have decided to use this so I can go on my usual rants (screw making notes on FB).

This post mainly deals with a problem that has been pestering me for quite sometime - the decline of the classy girl.

The classy girl was an essential figure in society for years and years (centuries even) but her habitat is unfourtunatly being destroyed by the ever present overly tan, shitty make up wearing, spitting in face, loudmouth reality star common trash (scientific name Trashious New Jersious). The classy girl knows how to act in all situations - although as we all know she has had to change certain things (humor/clothes etc) as time itself has changed but she has always remained good natured. She uses her tact and witt instead of fists and battles numbskulls with the education she has recieved not the spit in her mouth. She speaks in full sentences not in some mutant form of ebonics. My question is WHY have we let this divine woman fall prey to the infectious piles of human waste that inhabit shows like "Jersey Shore" "Jersylicious" and "Bad Girls Club" (there are more but these are the main offenders). I thought "The Simple Life" with Paris Hilton was bad...My goodness what has happened?!
Look, as most know I am a huge advocate of women's rights and I don't think a woman belongs in the kitchen...you know barefoot and pregnant...but when people speak of 'class' we tend to think of a woman who is elegant and put together not the piece of trash that inhabit our TVs. I mean when did it become the norm to spit on each other? Wear horrible looking clothes that show waaaaaay more than we need to see? Wear make up that makes you look like a whore?? AND WHY ARE THESE FLOOZIES SO POPULAR?? I understand its like a car crash - its messed up but you can't take your eyes off it. But those of us girls who have tact and CLASS need to stick together and stick up for each other not the whores that make ALL women look bad.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-57138567067776284742010-04-21T00:14:00.000-07:002010-04-21T00:19:00.253-07:00Its been a long long long time....Alright so I ignored this thing for months and months, one thing is that I got addicted to facebook- for some unknown reason : / I am truly sorry if anyone really paid attention to this and was bummed that I didn't post anything new. I PROMISE that I will make a concious effort to post on a regular basis.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-1366046235065046732010-04-21T00:08:00.001-07:002010-04-21T00:09:59.895-07:00This blog has moved
This blog is now located at http://czechceska.blogspot.com/.
You will be automatically redirected in 30 seconds, or you may click here.

For feed subscribers, please update your feed subscriptions to
http://czechceska.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default.
Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-32816608581302115952009-10-02T20:17:00.000-07:002009-10-02T20:30:15.906-07:00What if it was YOUR daughter?I've decided to take a break from my normal political rants and concentrate on the whole Roman Polanski mess.

Its safe to say that I'm a little more than baffled that prominent directors are supporting Polanski. What? Why? Yeah I get the whole "we directors have to stick together" and that he's made some pretty good films (my personal favorite The Pianist) and it doesn't matter that it's been some 30+ years since it happened and that the victim wants to get on with her life, what DOES matter however, is that he gave a 13-year-old Quaaludes, raped her THEN fled the country because a plea deal wasn't going to go through! Time doesn't heal all wounds. Like I stated earlier so the fuck what if he's an Oscar winner and made some good flicks...he abused/violated someone. My advice to all those who allegedly signed a petition to pardon Polanski...what if it was YOUR daughter? Would you feel the same? My guess is probably not.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-87156934081201137752009-09-27T13:20:00.000-07:002009-09-27T13:21:45.425-07:00I've been ignoring you lately...I apologize.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-40798184384239335002009-09-16T18:34:00.001-07:002009-09-16T18:35:30.240-07:00I was out until like 2 (in the AM) with Scottish rugby players...I'm tired.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-76401498438202527332009-09-09T12:53:00.000-07:002009-09-09T13:05:27.600-07:00...Has anyone else been noticing that Glenn Beck is on the verge of a major nervous breakdown? Or late onset of some form of paranoia? (but probably already has that...he is a Mormon for christs sake)

Probably both. In any case...good riddance.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-5322913777934669602009-09-03T19:58:00.000-07:002009-09-03T20:26:13.138-07:00OH....man...So, I just got back from a town hall meeting that our Rep. Lois Capps had and Jesus Christ...what the FUCK is the matter with people? I mean it was quiet...some of it ( I would say it was better than the earlier town hall meetings) But it was interesting all those who oppose the bill and think Obama is a Socialist AND Nazi (news flash - DIFFERENT ideologies!! wait that's a big and hard to pronounce word! ) and blah blah blah sat together (how adorable!) They all left at the same time (so they could have ample time to get their cute little bullshit signs out of their cars). I shushed some people and towards the end some guy sat in my row talking to himself saying "American has the best health care" (shall I laugh now, or later?) and then he put his face in his hands proceeded to beat his head with fists...whatever dude, go read a book will you? If you can even read. But by far the most exciting event happened after the meeting some tall boisterous nut job started to flap his lips about how this is a democracy and how he has the right to ''express'' himself...time out...you know part of a democracy is to listen to other people as well and he didn't let that happen he just kept going on and on about how the bill is socialism and how we live in the United States of America (I know where I am moron, I can even name the state I live in!!) and how I should go to Canada and how people from Canada come here to get health care, well that's bull. People here GO THERE for care, you know where they also go wing nut? MEXICO! ARRRRRIBA! OLAY!! Anyway, I started to tell him my father is a Canadian and half my family lives there and also my grandmother wouldn't of lived as long as she had WITHOUT socialized medicine and how she never dreamed of coming here for care and go everything she needed medically. But the guy would not shut up! He just kept talking, er yelling, over my mom and I not really letting us get a word in edge wise (although my mom got some punches in and he shut up after each one of them) by that time I had completely LOST it and unfortunately I have yet to cut the drama, yelling and swearing down and just started to yell and kinda made a loon out of my self. My saving grace - and maybe this is my superiority complex talking - I am a 25 year old woman who is smarter than the average bear and I know that and am proud of how I was raised and how I think. What I need to do however, is work on not getting so emotional and just use my intellect to prove how stupid, racist, and how uneducated these people are. I mean com'on how many freakin' times does the president and others who support this bill have to explain that it isn't socialism, it won't bankrupt the country etc etc. sigh...sometimes I really do want to move to Canada or to a Euro country so I can just go out, sit at a cafe and not have some moron behind me spewing complete and utter bullshit about something they know nothing about and don't want to learn about.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-33295475664966032572009-09-02T14:22:00.000-07:002009-09-02T14:23:22.928-07:00Joke Time!!what is Osama Bin Laden's favorite football team?

The New York Jets.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-9993627912640001792009-08-24T14:36:00.001-07:002009-08-24T14:40:55.629-07:00I know I've been ignoring this thing lately...school started and boy is it EVER going to be a fun semester!! Why?

1) budget cuts - 100+ classes have been cancelled - business department took the biggest hit.
2) Tuition went up - used to be 20$ a unit (most classes are 3-4 units) to 26$ a unit
3) MY FUCKING MATH BOOK IS $140 USED!!! ARRRRRRRG!!

...Then again, it could be worse...I know my tuition is nothing compared to most.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-88468283810024454032009-08-17T15:40:00.000-07:002009-08-17T15:57:15.348-07:00Don't make me regret things...please?As I stated earlier in the week I am rather disgusted by those who were...are making fools of themselves by barking, screaming and yelling at town halls regarding a gov't run health care plan. I was disgruntled on how the GOP was spreading horrible rumors about what would happen if the gov't were to control health care ( ''death panels'', Socialism ) when in fact medicare is run by the gov't. But I now find myself getting disgruntled with the Democrats, AND Obama. Look, I'm glad he's our president, his heart is in the right place and wants whats best for the U.S. BUT, this constant backing down needs to stop. COME ON DUDE! I know the GOP may seem scary but their bark is worse than their bite. People in this country need a leader who will stand up to people, not cower to them (ESPECIALLY the GOP). I haven't lost hope in you and don't regret my vote...YET.

OH! Another 'Thank you' to our Governor Arnold Swatz..Schwarzenegger (or however you spell that douches name) for fucking up not only HIV/AIDS programs across the state but ALSO the education system...THAAAAAAAANKS!!Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-74579212173523572412009-08-13T11:02:00.000-07:002009-08-13T19:13:57.532-07:00When a Society Fails.I've been trying my best to get my thoughts together and get a grasp on whats been happening regarding health care in this country and the constant bashing of Obama and how he's running the country. Even going as far as to write a few drafts on what I wanted to say (wasted a few pieces of paper doing it...) I have found myself getting very very very irritated by how some in this country have been acting. First I would like to address this whole "Obama is a Socialist/Nazi/Communist/Fascist/...who cares". I am 99.9% sure that the people who claim that he is one of those, if asked, couldn't explain them...idiots have a hard time defining different ''isms'' and other large words. Yes that's right, I called you IDIOTS because you are. Make up your minds, is he a commie? Nazi? because he can't be both, not to mention their spelling is atrocious (saw a guy with a sign that said "Obama is a Socilist"). Now, what makes Obama a socialist? Because he thinks all Americans should have access to affordable/good health care? What an evil evil man! How dare he treat people with compassion, that scum! Also, this whole ''death panel'' thing needs to stop, he isn't going to go out and kill anyone. This isn't Nazi Germany, so a euthanasia program is out of the question not to mention extremely outlandish and a scare tactic - Got it Sarah? Good, now shut your fucking mouth before you embarrass yourself further. Moving on, now what about those who are attending these town hall meetings only to yell and start fights with senators and such? Idiots as well. I saw one person stand up and talk about how the government needs to stay out of medicare. WHAT?? News flash moron Medicare is government run!! And if I can stay it works pretty well. Look, even though I think Obama is putting too many things on his plate at the moment- his heart is in a good place. Every citizen deserves health care and its the governments place to provide it to its people. France, Germany, England, Sweden, Netherlands, Canada and other countries all have single payer health care systems...yes their taxes are higher but I think the good out weighs the ''bad''.
My other beef is with the GOP- naturally. During the election and before the inauguration the GOP said that it was "looking forward to bipartisanship", that went out the window real quick. I seriously think that some Republicans are so upset that Barack beat McCain that they will do everything and anything to make him look bad and fail at whatever he tries to do- health care debate presently. Rush Limbaugh (who is doing a fantastic job acting like Joseph Goebbels), Sarah Palin, and faux news (among others) are doing their best to spread scare tactics throughout the U.S. (ooohh Obama and the democrats are gonna take your guns!! booga booga booga!!) and it says a lot about those who choose to feed with them.

In closing I would like to say that I hope those who buy into these fictitious, outlandish and disgusting scare tactics grow a brain and come to realize that Obama isn't the boogey man and has no intention of killing your grandma, stealing your children and eat them. Calm down, read a fucking dictionary and most importantly...THINK, if you're still capable of that.Winter Leehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15197952667052982003noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18469034.post-23987945850172451242009-08-09T16:31:00.000-07:002009-08-09T16:33:08.953-07:00Oh...boy.Went to my eldest brothers wedding yesterday, hopefully less stress now.
